UPDATE FOR ALL SHELTER VISITORS:Effective Wednesday, August 4 - Masks will be required for all employees and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, inside all county buildings. This aligns with the CDC and ADHS guidance which recommends mask use for all people in public indoor settings in areas of substantial and high transmission of COVID-19 and its variants.
PLEASE NOTE: For the health and safety of your pets and ours, personal pets are NOT permitted inside the County shelter.
CHANGE IN SERVICES AND HOURS – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Effective today, January 14, MCACC will be reducing the services offered and hours of operation at both our Durango and East Shelter locations due to the dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases in our community that unfortunately has also impacted our staffing levels. Both facilities will be open to the public for adoptions only from 1PM to 5PM daily until further notice. We remain committed to the animals in our care and need to shift our limited resources to our shelter pets. Our Customer Service Call Center will still be available for general questions, licensing assistance, etc. during their normal business hours of 8AM to 5PM daily and are available by phone: 602-506-7387 or email: CallCenter@Maricopa.Gov. MCACC will continue reevaluating our staffing situation and will provide any updates to our services and hours at that time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to work through these challenging times.
Mission Statement: Working together to serve the animals and people of Maricopa County. Vision Statement: We envision a community in which all pets are part of a family, provided with compassionate care and companionship. We strive to be an innovative and trusted resource for the community.
Supporting pets and people during Covid-19: Pets are family, and MCACC is committed to helping both our four- and two-legged friends who have been impacted by COVID-19. We have partnered with the top animal welfare organizations in the Valley to provide information, resources and a community rehoming/temporary foster network for struggling pet owners impacted by the COVID-19 housing crisis. Visit Pet Housing Help AZ for more information.
Adoptions: Our regular adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends at both the West Valley Shelter and the East Valley Shelter locations. Visit our adoption page for details. Appointments are no longer needed.
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control employees are committed to animal welfare, and we are always looking to add talented individuals to our team, either at our West or East Valley Animal Care Centers. As one of the nation’s largest open-admission shelters, we work with our community to serve the animals and people of Maricopa County. Our adoptions, foster, kennel, behavior and animal control teams learn first-hand about proper care of homeless, stray and neglected animals and work hard to find them new homes.
