"Maricopa County Human Services Department (MCHSD) in Arizona has served as a Head Start grantee since the program was initiated in 1965. With the launch of the Early Head Start initiative in 1997, the grantee expanded its program to serve children birth to 3 years old and is now partnering with child care providers through the Early Head Start-Child Care (EHS-CC) Partnerships. Except for the city of Phoenix, MCHSD serves all of Maricopa County, and through its EHS-CC Partnership grant collaborates with child care partners within the targeted communities of Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Surprise, Glendale, and Whitman."
